Advertise

Advertising is a critical step in the hiring process. Hiring managers must use judgment to determine the best approach to advertising a position in order to yield the best pool of applicants.  It is recommended that hiring managers develop a targeted advertising plan to yield a large pool of highly qualified candidates. 

The advertising plan delineates the outreach efforts and activities that will be undertaken to increase the size and quality of the pool of applicants. 

All advertising, including any form of announcement whether by e-mail, letter, the web, list serv, journal, etc., must be approved prior to publication by the school/unit HR Professional. 

The Advertising Sources List provides a list of recommended publications but is by no means an exhaustive list. Hiring managers are encouraged to utilize publications that would be the most relevant to the knowledge skills, and/or abilities related to the position.
