Appointment Types

There are several types of faculty appointments at VCU: tenured, tenure-eligible, term (non-tenure), adjunct, etc., and all faculty have a rank (e.g. professor, associate professor, assistant professor, instructor, etc.). The policies and procedures listed below provide guidance on the type of faculty appointments, available ranks and how a faculty member can be promoted to a higher rank and/or become tenured, if eligible:
